Milling illicit logs: Police register case against band-saw owner

Handwara, Aug 4: For milling over 39 illegally smuggled logs, police in North Kashmir’s Handwara detained the band-saw owner and registered a case against him.

Official sources told news agency KNT that Block Forest Officer, Baderkol Block in Handwara received information that ban-saw owner Showkat Hasan Bhat was sawing 39 logs smuggled illegally by him at Wadipora Handwara.

The team rushed to the spot, seized logs and lodged a case at police station Handwara against the band-saw owner.

A police official said that the band-saw owner had illegally smuggled 39 logs and he was sawing them when caught by the Forest Department. A formal case has been registered against him, he said. (KNT)
