Bizarre! 200 posts vacant at District Hospital Ganderbal

Vacant posts include doctors, medical officers, pharmacists, physiotherapists, reveals RTI

Srinagar, Dec 09: In district hospital Ganderbal at least 200 posts are lying vacant in the hospital, which includes doctors, Para-medics, technical and working staff.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the district hospital has 28 vacant posts of doctors of various fields. Additionally, 20 posts of medical officers are also unfilled.

The Public Information Officer (PIO) of the concerned hospital in a reply to Right to Information (RTI) application filed by the activist, M M Shuja has said that the hospital has 200 posts unfilled.

“The hospital has the vacant posts for doctors, Para-medical staff, technical staff including Physiotherapist and other working staff. Besides, 20 posts for pharmacists are also unfilled in the hospital,” the PIO said.

In a RTI application, the PIO said that the district hospital has seven doctors who have been working continuously from the past five years, whereas ten doctors have been transferred to different hospitals of Jammu and Kashmir in the past three years.

“There are four medical officers, one consultant surgeon, consultant gynaecologist, consultant anaesthetic respectively working in the district hospital Ganderbal from the past five years,” reads the RTI reply.

Pertinently, the district hospital was dedicated to COVID-19 patients from March-2020 to June-2021.

The PIO said, “One emergency room has been established at district hospital Ganderbal and the staff in section is working on rotational basis as per the roster. The staff members have been given training to handle the emergency.”—(KNO)
