Srinagar, July 23: A patient from Srinagar who received blood plasma of a prominent Urologist, Dr Salim Khan, through blood plasma therapy has successfully recovered and has been discharged from the hospital.
Sources while talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that a patient from Baghat area of Srinagar, who was admitted in SK Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), had severe COVID pneumonia.
“He was admitted in the hospital on July 07, 2020,” the officials said, adding that the patient was managed with two supplementation, Remedesvir, Plasma therapy and Steroids.
After convalescent blood plasma therapy, the patient as per the officials started recovering. He was the third patient who got the plasma therapy, they added.
Talking to KNO, the son of the said patient said that his father after recovering will be donating his blood plasma to share his bit to save the precious life.
“COVID is a deadly disease especially for the elderly persons and all those who are already suffering from other ailments. Many of the patients have recovered due to the blood plasma therapy. I appeal to the COVID recovered patients to come forward and donate their blood plasma,” said his son, who is also a Doctor by profession.
Meanwhile, Dr. Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent of SKIMS told KNO that it will be scientifically inappropriate to utter whether the blood plasma therapy is showing promising results at present. “It is true that some of the patients have recovered after convalescent blood plasma therapy while some of the patients didn’t recover,” he said.
He said that data of many such patients who will receive convalescent blood plasma therapy will be collected following which the results will come to the fore—(KNO)
