Day 02, Kreeri Encounter: After suspension of operation for night, firing resumes

Srinagar, August 18: After suspending operation due to darkness yesterday, firing resumes on tuesday morning at encounter site in Kreeri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A senior Police officer told GNS that as the first ray of light striked this morning, the forces resumed the operation.

Heavy exchange of firing is going on right now, the officer said.

Pertinently, yesterday 06 were killed including 02 CRPF troopers, 01 JK cop, 01 Army solidier and two local LeT militants in the gunfight.

Director General of police Dilbagh Singh yesterday during a press conference said that Top LeT Commander Sajad Haider from Sopore was among the two slain militants. Who as per DGP was instrumental in recruiting new militants and was mastermind behind many attacks on security forces and political activists.

Meanwhile more details will follow as the encounter is still underway.(GNS)
