IGP Kashmir warns of swift action against drug peddlers, urges youth to stay away from drugs

Says J&K police to intensify ‘Mission Mode’ anti-drug drive; extends Baisakhi greetings

Srinagar, Apr 14: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir VK Birdi on Tuesday said that Jammu and Kashmir Police will further intensify its anti-drug campaign and ensure strict legal action against drug peddlers and traffickers in the coming days.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function here, IGP Birdi as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that the police have always been in mission mode against drugs.

“In the coming days, our action will be more swift so that legal recourse is taken against drug peddlers, smugglers and those involved in drug trafficking,” he said.

He said that youth are the future of the country and should remain disciplined and stay away from drugs.

The IGP also extended greetings to the Sikh community, stating that he visited the Gurudwara on the invitation of the management on the auspicious occasion.

“It is the holy day and also the creation day of Khalsa Panth. We came here, paid obeisance and congratulated the Sikh community on behalf of Jammu and Kashmir Police,” he said—(KNO)
