Srinagar/Jammu, Apr 14: Kashmir-origin student Anavi Kaul, currently pursuing Biomedical Engineering at Duke University in the United States, has been featured among the Top Women Leaders 2026 in North Carolina.
Anavi, who maintains a perfect 4.0/4.0 GPA and is on the Dean’s List with Distinction, has distinguished herself through academic excellence, research and leadership. She is currently serving as Co-President of the Duke Engineering Student Government, representing over 1,400 undergraduate engineering students and overseeing multiple student-led initiatives and organisations.
She is also working as an undergraduate researcher at the Musah Lab at Duke’s Center for Biomolecular and Tissue Engineering, contributing to advanced biomedical research, including work on kidney disease using innovative chip-based models.
Her academic journey is complemented by several leadership and mentorship roles, including Pratt Research Fellow, Teaching Assistant, Peer Success Leader and Ambassador at the Center for Multicultural Affairs. She is also actively involved in cultural activities, including Duke Deewana, reflecting a well-rounded student profile.
Anavi completed her schooling at Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai, where she secured a perfect 45/45 in the International Baccalaureate (IB) and held key leadership roles such as Student Council Captain and Head of Press for Model United Nations.
Notably, she is the daughter of Avinash Kaul, former CEO of Network18, who hails from Srinagar, giving her strong roots and a personal connection to Jammu & Kashmir.
Her recognition among North Carolina’s emerging women leaders highlights the growing global footprint of young Indian-origin achievers, combining academic excellence with leadership and innovation.
