Bandipora, Aug 19: The residents of several localities of north kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday accused the district administration of subjecting them to inconvenience due to the dilapidated condition of several roads including main town.

Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), locals said that the road connecting Bagh locality with district hospital, for instance, has developed huge potholes as the concerned department has failed to upgrade its condition.

“This particular road is in extremely bad condition and the dust makes it difficult to breathe especially for those who are commuting on foot and riding two-wheelers,” they said. The locals said that the another road from Papchan to mini-secretariat via Nusoo is also presenting a pathetic look, while those in the rest of the town are also craving for official attention.

“The administration seems to have forgotten these roads including major link roads which connect several areas with district headquarters. No work has been taken up for the last so many years,” said Firdous Ahmad, a resident of Bandipora town.

He said that the bad condition of roads not only gives the commuters a tough time but it also consumes a lot of their time in reaching from one place to another. “The passenger vehicles have suffered damages due to bad condition of the roads.”

“Our vehicles have got heavy damages due to dilapidated condition of the road from Nadihal to Bandipora,” an auto rickshaw driver said.

“The road is totally in a dilapidated condition for the last few years but the authorities have failed to even pay a visit to ascertain the damages of this road,” he said.

Meanwhile, the residents of Sumlar, Kaloosa, and Chuntimulla villages also accused the local administration of failing to upgrade the condition of the roads even as these roads have developed huge potholes.

“Roads from Gundpora to Lowdara, Ajar, Patushai, Gorihajin Chittibandey and Ahamsharief areas of the district are also in shambles,” the residents said. They said that they have apprised the concerned authorities on many occasions but they have never paid any heed toward their repeated pleas.

The residents of these areas also appealed to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and deputy commissioner Bandipora to personally look into the matter in order to redress their grievances—(KNO)
