Budgam, Oct 20: The annual Urs of Sheikh Noor-u-Din Noorani (RA), popularly known as Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA), was observed at Charar-i-Sharief in Budgam district on Monday with religious fervour.

As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), thousands of devotees from across Jammu and Kashmir thronged the shrine, offering prayers and supplications.

Special prayers, recitations of Darood and Naats, and other devotional activities were held throughout the day, while night-long prayers were observed on the intervening night of October 19–20.

The Urs celebrations were attended by religious scholars, caretakers, and devotees. Mutawali Ziyarat Younis Haji thanked the administration for ensuring smooth arrangements, including uninterrupted water, power, and transport facilities.

“Thousands of devotees from across the region had participated in the sacred event,” he said.

During the occasion, religious scholars highlighted the life, teachings, and spiritual contributions of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-u-Din Noorani (RA), who devoted his life to preaching Islam and spreading harmony. Devotees were seen offering prayers, distributing sweets, almonds, and walnuts within the shrine premises.

The Urs will continue till Wednesday, with special prayers scheduled on Wednesday and Jummah Namaz to be observed at 2:30 pm—(KNO)
