Qazigund, April 16: As a part of 100-day Nasha Mukta Bharat Abhiyan the College Well-Being & Anti-Substance Abuse Cell of Government Degree College (GDC) Qazigund, organized a film, documentary screening programme to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse among students.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Prof (Dr.) Sudhir Singh according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) urged to students to disseminate the information among the peer groups, relatives and friends.
“Today we have chosen short films as medium of information as these focus less on spectacle and more on the human cost; they compress intense emotional journeys into a brief runtime,” he added.
Prof. Nehad Nodal Officer of CWAAC, introduced the films to the students and said that the message is to be understood in its entirety to eradicate the fast spreading menace of drug abuse.
First documentary film issued by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment was introductory in nature.
The screening also featured a thought-provoking film/documentary ‘Lat” that highlighted the social, psychological, and health consequences of substance abuse, particularly among the youth.
An interactive session was conducted after the screening, during which students shared their views and reflections on the issue.
The programme witnessed an enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty members. Prof. Talib Ahmed, Nodal Officer of the programme proposed the vote of thanks.
All the students and staff of the college attended the session.
Prominent among them were Dr. Aufaq Zargar, Prof. Irshad Ahmed Shah, Basit Ahmed Naikoob and Aamna—(KNO)
