Srinagar, Sept 17: Health and Medical Education Minister Sakeena Itoo on Thursday appealed to National Health Mission (NHM) employees to call off their ongoing strike and resume their duties, assuring that the government would examine their concerns and make every possible effort to address issues falling within its purview.

Speaking to reporters in Pampore as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Itoo said the government had held several rounds of discussions with the protesting employees and that she had also interacted with them earlier.

“They are our own people, and it is their democratic right to raise their concerns. The government has held several discussions with them, and I have also spoken to them,” she said.

The minister expressed hope that the employees would understand the situation and return to work, stressing that people place immense trust in the medical profession and healthcare workers.

“I hope they will call off their strike and return to their duties. The government will certainly do whatever it can for them,” she said.

Itoo said she had already directed the concerned department to examine all the issues raised by the employees in their representations.

She assured that the government would take necessary steps to resolve issues that fall within its authority, while appealing to the employees to ensure that the public does not suffer due to the ongoing strike—(KNO)
