Man booked under PSA for his criminal activities in Samba: Police

Samba, July 21: Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested and booked a man under Public Safety Act (PSA) for his criminal activities in Samba district.

The man, who as per police is ‘notorious criminal’, was arrested on the orders issued by the District Magistrate Samba.

As per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the accused namely Harbans Singh @ Asla, son of Dayal Singh, a resident of Vijaypur, District Samba was booked for his criminal activities in the area.

Six cases are registered against him in the Police Station Vijaypur, police said, adding that he has become a threat to the peaceful atmosphere, thus forcing authorities to detain him under J&K Public Safety Act.

Keeping in view his repeated involvement in criminal activities, a dossier was prepared by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba and forwarded it to the District Magistrate who formally issued the order of his detention under the PSA.

The detention warrant was executed by a Police team headed by Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Vijaypur and the accused has been lodged in Sub Jail Hiranagar.
